WABA Coexistence is a channel that lets you combine the benefits of WABA and regular WhatsApp Business: you can send templates to customers without the risk of being blocked, while still using your number in the WhatsApp Business app.
How to Add a WABA Coexistence
Channel To add a WABA channel, go to "My Plan" → "Plan Settings" → "Channels" and add the WhatsApp Business API channel.
How to Configure the WABA Coexistence
Channel After you’ve added the channel to your project, go to the “Settings” → “Channels” section and click the gear icon next to the added channel to open its settings. If you only have one channel, its settings will open immediately.
The channel settings should look like this:
To configure the channel, follow these steps:
- Click “Confirm Channel Settings” and “Continue with Facebook”;
- In the window that opens, you’ll need to log in to Facebook. It’s important to use the account that has (or will have) the company’s business account. After logging in, click “Continue”;
- Select a business portfolio and which WhatsApp account you’ll be using.
You can choose an existing business portfolio or create a new one. -
In the “WhatsApp Business Account” field, select:
1. “Create a WhatsApp Business Account” if you want to connect a new number or transfer your current WABA number from another Meta partner.
Important! If you’re transferring a WABA number from another partner, please make sure you’ve turned off 2FA in your WhatsApp account settings in Meta Business Suite2. “Connect the WhatsApp Business app” to use Coexistence technology, which allows you to link your existing number that is authorized in the WhatsApp Business app on your phone.
- Enter the phone number of your active WhatsApp Business account;
- Review the information and click Next;
- You’ll receive a message from Facebook on WhatsApp Business; to continue the setup, open it and tap the button to go to the app connection section. You can
also access this section on your own: Settings -> Account -> WhatsApp Business Platform.
Here, open the QR code scanner and scan the QR code displayed on the screen; - Select your time zone;
- Tap the “Continue” button;
- Wait a moment while the account connects;
- Once the process is complete, a message will appear indicating that the connection is finished. You should add a payment method right away on this screen, though you can also do this later through your Meta Business dashboard.
Tap “Finish”;
The “Channels” section will open. If a number and the status “authorized” appear here, the connection was successful.
Note: The “Connected Account,” “Linked Branches,” and “Phone Number” fields are not empty; they are hidden for illustrative purposes.
Important requirements for the channel to function correctly
There are several steps you need to take to ensure the integration works correctly and without issues:
Company
Verification Go to your business account and select the business account you used when connecting the number.
Open the “Company Information” section and make sure that “Company Verification Status” is marked as “Verified.” If it says “Not Verified” here, click “More” and, in the Security Center that opens, find the “Company Verification” section—you’ll need to start the verification process.
A window will open with instructions on how to verify your company:
Next, follow the step-by-step verification process and wait for a response from Meta.
Without this step, restrictions will apply to your account, including a limit on the number of messages you can send per day.
Adding a Payment
Method Since we work without intermediaries, Meta charges you directly for marketing and other messages—we do not add our own commission.
To add payment methods, open your business account and go to the “Billing and Payments” section on the left, then select “Payment Methods.”
In the window that opens, select “WhatsApp Business Accounts” and then “Add Payment Method” at the bottom.
Next, follow the step-by-step instructions to add a payment method.
