Meta's rates are changing: how to set up sending

Meta's rates are changing on October 1, 2026. What does this mean, and how does SuperWhatsApp help you avoid overpaying?

Key Points at a Glance

Starting October 1, 2026, Meta is changing WhatsApp’s pricing rules. Previously, replies to customers within 24 hours of their inquiry were free and unlimited—this was the basis for almost all messaging and most automated notifications. Now this is changing:

  • Each phone number is allocated 1,000 free service messages per month. Anything beyond that is charged per message at the recipient’s country’s rate.
  • The limit resets every month and does not roll over to the next month.
  • The 24-hour window isn’t going anywhere—it’s just that sending messages during that time is no longer free.

For businesses with active messaging, this means one thing: WhatsApp costs, which used to be zero, will now start to rise along with the volume of messages.

What We’ve Done at SuperWhatsApp

We’ve prepared the channel for these changes in advance so you can manage the “cost vs. reliability” balance yourself and avoid overpaying for messages you can send for free.

Once the channel is fully authorized (both methods are enabled—the official Meta API and WhatsApp QR code connection), a new section called “Flexible Messaging” appears above the “General Information” block (see the screenshot of the settings).

The idea is simple. The channel has two delivery methods:

  • The official Meta API—reliable and official, but subject to new fees.
  • WhatsApp QR connection—free, but restrictions from WhatsApp are possible with high volumes.

The settings section lets you choose which method to use for each type of message—and find your own balance between cost savings and reliability.

Presets: One-Click Selection

To avoid having to configure each setting manually, there are predefined options:

  • Secure but expensive—everything goes through Meta’s official API. Maximum reliability, maximum cost.
  • Economy—everything goes through a QR connection. Minimum cost, but with the risk of restrictions during bulk sending.
  • Balanced (recommended)—important messages go through the Meta API, the rest go through the QR code for free. This option is available if you’re connected to Altegio.
  • Custom Setup — full control: you set the method for each message type separately.

If you need to change something manually, the setting automatically switches to “Custom,” just like selecting a difficulty level in a game. Nothing will be lost.

What You Can Configure

The list includes all types of messages sent: messages from the Message messenger.Help, automatic Altegio templates (which can be expanded and configured individually—appointment notifications, reminders, post-visit messages, review requests, birthday greetings), messages from amoCRM and Bitrix24, the loyalty program, AI responses, and chatbot messages.

“Mass Mailings” deserve special mention—they always go through Meta’s official API, as this is the only permitted method for them.

Notifications will never go undelivered

Most importantly: no matter how you configure the channel, not a single important message will be lost.

If the message text is verified as a Meta template, it will be sent exactly as a template via the official API—even if QR is selected for that type. In other words, critical, official notifications always reach their destination reliably, while you save on everything else.

Posts, reminders, confirmations, and greetings—everything continues to work as before. The only thing that changes is how and at what cost they’re sent—and now you’re in control of that.

How to Set It Up

  1. Make sure the channel is 100% authorized (both methods are enabled).
  2. Open the “Flexible Message Sending” section above the “General Information” block.
  3. Select the appropriate preset—"Balanced" will work for most cases.
  4. If necessary, expand individual types and customize them to your needs.
  5. Click “Save Settings.”

All done—the channel works as usual, and your costs are under control.
